Someone's four years old!

And she'll tell anyone and everyone who might (or might not) be listening.

When we woke up last Monday morning, I asked Rhys, "Do you remember what day it is today?"

"Friday!" she answered enthusiastically. "Saturday! Sunday! My birthday!"

It was a relatively quiet day, punctuated at least hourly with "I'm four years old!"

She had a smattering of presents all day long, starting right before lunch with a card (and £10!) from Grandma and Grandpa and a set of princess, prince and dragon hand puppets from Nana and Gramps. She hasn't decided what to spend her £10 on yet, though it will probably be something pink and sparkly.

Just before dinner her friends from next door turned up to deliver the next round of unwrapping. There was much shrieking and excitement over a very pink music box, complete with a spinning ballerina.

Rhys requested two things for her birthday dinner: tofu and a princess castle cake. So Eric made orange tofu (it's like orange chicken - made without the chicken, obviously), and I made an attempt at a castle cake. The tofu was a success; the cake was...well, it was tasty, but I will once again use it as evidence that cake decoration is not my forte.

We finally gave her our gifts after dinner. She received some art supplies of the messiest sort (sparkly glue pens and pink fairy stickers). She also scored a new pair of slippers (pink and sparkly, wouldn't you know) and a cool computer cooking thing that doesn't actually work on our laptop. Oops.

The day ended with a pink birthday cake (inside and out) and some pink ice cream.

Happy birthday, Peanut!

PS - There will be much more updating to come this week. I've been swamped with school and work and kids and such, but preschool started again last week, so I should be able to get back to keeping this site current!
